Visiting Second Baptist? Heres What To Expect

Planning to Visit

Visiting any church can be a tough experience.

  • Can I Attend?
  • What to wear?
  • What time to show up?
  • What’s here for my kids?
  • What can I expect?

These and many more questions may surface. Well, we want to put you at ease. We want your visits to Second Baptist to be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”!

Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

Im Not a Baptist Can I Still Attend?

It is our desire that Second Baptist would be a church for everyone that has a desire to know God. You do not have to come from a Baptist background, or hold to any particular religious affiliation to attend services here. We are convinced that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is sufficient to point any sincere person to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have a desire to know God and experience His best in your life, we invite you to join us on the journey! If there is any way that we can be of help to you please feel free to let us know.

Whats here for my kids?

At Second Baptist Church, we are extremely proud of the J.A.M. Ministry for our children and youth. Our Sunday Childrens Church is held every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays starting at 11:15 am and is located downstairs in the Fellowship Hall of the Church.  Each Wednesday night at 7:15pm, we host a Bible study specifically for our youth and teens.  We have invested many resources to build our youth ministry, and your children do not have to be members to come out and join in on the numerous activities for the youth.

How should I dress?

There is not a dress code at Second Baptist Church for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress — suit and ties and dresses. However, don’t be surprised if you someone in jeans and a t-shirt. Our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable during your visit here at Second Baptist Church!

Are there worship services or study at other times?
Yes.

  • Young Adult Bible Study - Every Tuesday at 7pm.
  • Noonday Bible Study on Wednesdays
  • Worship & Word on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. (mid-week Bible study, specially prepared by Pastor Slaughter)
  • 2:9 Bible Study – Wednesdays at 7:15 (Ages 12-19)
  • Women’s Bible Study – Monthly on Thursdays

You may refer to our Church Calendar for more details. If you can't be our guest on Sunday morning, we hope you'll worship with us during another time.

We hope you will find in this place a loving family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. If there are other questions that you may have, just give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it’s been a long time since you’ve attended church at all, we hope your visit at Second Baptist will be uplifting and encouraging! We exist to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step onto our campus! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
