...Though we walk in the flesh we do not war against the flesh. For the weapons of warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Casting down imaginations and every lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 10.3-10.6

Many Christians have accepted the identity of being a soldier in God's Army. Having accepted to call to be numbered are proud to wear “the breastplate of righteousness and shield of faith.” In the endeavor protect themselves with “the helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit,” they go into battle but sometimes forget that the battle is to be fought unconventionally through God's strategic plan in the Spirit. When the plan is not as intended people begin to feel down, think about failure and anticipate hearing “I told you so.”
Often we start the day with a piece of the personal plan for living with statements like “I got to get myself together.” In freely saying such it is forgotten that the origination of the problem cannot fix itself though functioning is an option. A conflict is in play when the crisis big or small is entangled in a person's sense of self or environment. In this sense, the oxymoron self help will never work. You cannot get-it-together by yourself and definitely can't encourage yourself. The only option is to let the Holy Spirit lead the battle to fight and win.
If you are down, you cannot pick yourself up by your own bootstraps. You can however have confidence and expectation of the Holy Spirit. The strongholds have no chance against God's might. The imaginations of defeat, inadequacy, depression and isolation have no footing in the presence of the Lord. All things including the spirit of fear which exalts itself against the knowledge of God is void. On the other hand, the knowledge of God has confirmed the blessings of love, power and a sound mind for you who believe.
As a solider in the Army of the Lord, each and ever time you bring negativity into captivity out of your mind and conversation you will conform to the image of Christ. By being obedient you cast all such things to the darkness where it is void of possibility. When you fall, expect Christ to be the only hold you will need. Fallen you may be but not for long.
